As many of you may know, this December marks the second year in a row where the first week of December has marked a surgery for my dog, Diva. The surgery is the same one as last time, its called a TPLO or Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteomy. This is a major surgery where they actually change the shape of the bones in her leg so that the bones don't slip forward while she walks. She had 6 screws and two plates; now in each of her legs. There is a sliver lining to the story, other than the obvious, Diva is now bionic, but seriously. she only has two knees so there should be no more surgeries...knock on wood! And we were able to remove a cluster of warts that had been bothering her from one of her paws.
Diva is a trooper...this sugery was harder on her physically than the last but she is doing well. She is one week out from surgery and our only issues are trying to keep her from running and jumping and licking her paw (where the warts were removed)
We have a long recovery period ahead of us... eight weeks without any physical activity and they we will head back to hydrotherapy to ensure a faster recovery. I know she can't wait to get back in the water.
