A year ends and a decade begins.  At least it would seem that way, however I'm told that the new decade doesn't officially start until 2011.  That sounds rather lame to me, because that would mean that 1990 was still part of the 80s and that 1970 was still part of the 60s, etc.  Who knows.  ...maybe Google knows.

At any rate I've managed to snap a few photos amid the frenzy of friends and family at year's end.  In this collection are photos from a gift exchange at my office, Christmas at my mom's place with the ever-growing family, a New Year's Day hike at Multnomah Falls up near Portland, and some other miscellaneous shots splattered throughout the collection.

...And you just might notice a reoccuring cameo appearance among the photos from my girlfriend, Julia.  We've been able to share some really good times together as this year ends and the new decade begins.

This year I have a new black Christmas tree. I already have it up along with the lights on my house. Every year we start the chain reaction in my neighborhood. Ours may not be the best, but they are always the first lights up each year.. Enjoy the pics..

Real Pro Systems held a gathering today for our website users in San Diego.  Great turn out.  It was fun meeting friends, old and new.  Here are some pictures of tonight's event.  Thank you everyone for attending.  Enjoy the video.  I know I enjoyed putting it together.   ;-)

Nick reviews the iPhone app for IDX. A handy tool, the app allows users to search area listings from their iPhone and connect with an agent with a click of a button. Very cool.  Agents can add the badge to their website, but the end user will need to load the app from their phone.  Here is Nick's review:

At long last the moment we have been waiting for has arrived - D-Day!  That means Dirt Day!

When we closed on our new home in July 2009, we kicked off a project of land clearing including tree removal and substantial excavation.  There was essentially no front yard for the house, and instead a retaining wall held back 10-15 feet of earth that was only 20-25 feet from the front door. 

Excavating that dirt would have been easy enough, but our electrical service transformer was sitting on top of that dirt!  We expected that within six weeks of closing we would have a new power service entrance completed, enabling us to excavate our front yard, and in turn, that within a couple of weeks the excavation and landscaping would have been complete (before the rains).  Unfortunately, only yesterday, the 27th of Otober, did our new elctrical service finally get turned on.

While disappointed at the long wait, we are thrilled because today is D-Day, DIRT-Day!  Our friendly excavation team (Dennis, Nathan and Cory) were back at the house promptly at 7:30 warming up their equipment, and the dirt removal kicked into high gear.  nd we are so fortunt to have a break in the weather today- it is not raining! 

I could barely tear myself away to go to work, I was so excited.  And what's more, it is simply amazing how quickly this enormous amount of earth was being removed. 

When the new power line was run, we also had a new cable laid for our telephone service.  While the new power service is live, the new phone line is not.  So as they dug up cables today, that was the end of our phone and internet service!  Hopefully that will be back on line before too long.

Caine, Rob, Galand, Joe and Jim headed up to Astoria recently for their annual fishing trip on the Columbia River.  True to form, Rob extended his record of catching the first fish of the trip - making it four outings in a row (see the video below).  Jim also brought in a nice Coho.  Come to think of it, Galand and Caine reeled in fish as well.  Somehow the salmon knew which line was mine. How do they do that?

Ten of us took to the bike paths today and rode along the Willamette River on our way to the North Bank restaurant for lunch.  Gorgeous sunshine, beautiful colors, and excellnt company.  Thanks to everyone who made the trip.  Let's do it again soon.

Hey Everybody,

I recently took a trip with my brother to Seattle.  This doesn't happen often anymore since he's got a family, but I managed to get him for a day so we could catch a Mariner's game.

We got into town and took in some of the city.  Pike Place Fish Market was packed out with people eagerly waiting to see some flying fish!  After that we got some dinner and headed to the game.

The game was fun, but the Mariner's got pounded, 9-0, by the Cleveland Indians.  The Indians hit 4 homeruns, so that made it interesting.  And we caught a ska band full of Navy guys doing a cover of A-ha's "Take On Me."

Overall, the trip was good and I got some interesting photos.  Enjoy!

Nearly 100 people attended the Real Pro Systems users group last night at the Hyatt Regency in Denver CO. What a great night of sharing and learning!  Expert users shared their experiences with Real Pro Gold and presented tips for their fellow agents.  General Manager Caine O'Brien offered an out-of-this-world presention on our latest development: Real Pro Platinum.  Many thanks to presenters Victoria Luhring, Rob Janson, Mike Parker, Jodi Bakst, Galand Haas, Pat Wattam, Ron Kubek, Sam Miller, Tom Cain, and Rob Levy.  Special thanks to Tara Sybrant for organizing the event and pulling it off so flawlessly, and to the RPS team in Eugene for their dedication to all our clients. The event was a tremendous success. Video below:
